Add a touch of handmade charm to your kitchen with this beautiful “scrappy” casserole hot pad.

Use this quilted, oversized 12 x 16-inch hot pad to protect and decorate your countertops or tabletop from hot dishes. It is perfect for a 9x13-inch casserole dish or smaller baking dishes.

I used complimentary, high-quality quilting cotton fabrics from my stash to create the neutral-colored patchwork. The colors include shades of blue, green, and brown with metallic gold dots. The inside has two layers of Warm & Natural cotton batting and one layer of Insul-Brite, a heat-resistant lining. The reverse features a complimentary aged newspaper print fabric, and the scrappy binding was machine-stitched on for extra durability.
